Heshui Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Zheng Jiajian et al. (1974) firstly named the Heshui member by the Longtian section in the Xingning County. “Annals of Guangdong Regional Geology” (1988) referred the name of Heshui Formation to this group of strata. The type locality is at the Longtian section in the Xingning County of Guangdong (115º44', 24º14').
Lithology and Thickness
The Heshui Formation is a group of coarse-grained clastic rocks, with conglomerate in the lower part and sandstone, siltstone in the middle to upper part, interbedded with silty mudstone. It is 78~1065 m in thickness.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It unconformably contacts with the underlying Guancaohu Fm.
Upper contact
It unconformably contacts with the overlying Yousheng Fm.
Regional extent
The formation is distributed in the Meixian, Xingning, Wuhua and Heyuan areas.

Fossils
The formation yields ostracods Cypridea, Mongolocypris, Lycopterocypris; bivalves Trigonioides sp., and others like conchostracans and plant.
